Time Commitment: April –June: Minimum of 20 hours a week; July and August work full time every other week. Some flexibility in schedule available.
Working under the supervision of the Program Director, the Outdoor Recreation Intern manages the care and supervision of youth on outdoor activities including whitewater rafting and Ascent trips. The incumbent is expected to mentor groups of up to seven Junior High and High School students while ensuring safety and facilitating the personal growth of youth. The position may require: being on call and responding to emergencies at any hour, and being physically and emotionally capable of safely leading youth in outdoor activities.
Duties and responsibilities:
• Under the supervision of a Senior Guide, Outdoor Recreation Intern will guide a minimum of 20 all day rafting trips between April 1, 2008 and July 7, 2008.
• Under the supervision of a Senior Guide, Outdoor Recreation Intern will guide a minimum 8 five day Ascent trips.
• Model Christ like behavior including encouragement, teamwork, trust, hope and respect for others and the environment at all times.
• Adhere to and diligently enforce rigorous safety standards
• Maintain inventory and protection of equipment and facilities. Instill in each participant a respect for equipment, its care, and proper use.
Minimum education and work experience:
• Commitment to Jesus Christ, which reflects Christ in every aspect of his/her vocation and personal life.
• Completed minimum of one year of college.
• Knowledge and experience in outdoor related skills and understanding of procedures pertinent to outdoor programs.
• Ability to communicate effectively with diverse group of youth.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Flexibility to adapt to a wide variety of duties, working conditions, and priorities.
Required qualifications:
• Raft Guide Certification.
• Valid training in CPR and First Aid
Desired qualifications:
• Wilderness First Responder (WFR)

• The Outdoor Recreation Intern is an unpaid internship. Peak 7 Adventures provides the intern with a $500.00 stipend to offset the cost of certifications and to reimburse any direct expenses.
• The Outdoor Recreation Intern will interact with over 1000 youth and log more than 3500 hours engaging and influencing their lives.
